Origins
Driven by a passion of science fiction and storytelling the concept of Last Star began in early 2009 with the script and about 90 percent of the animation (aprox 25min worth) being completed around June 2012. Since then production has moved onto the live action aspects of the film.
Without any experience in the film industry each step of the way has been a learning curve from working with 3D animation software to figuring out what end to stick the lens on a camera and I’m sure the greatest challenges still lay ahead. The script has been constructed in a very compartmentalized way as to make it film-able. One of the challenges is the fact that nothing in the film is set on earth so its not possible to walk down to a street corner and start filming, the sets have to be either built or filmed in very select locations.
I have been asked many times what I intend to do with the film once it’s completed and to be honest it hasn’t been a priority, all my energy and focus has been on the more creative and practical aspects of making the film and to a great degree what happens to the film will depend on the quality of the end product. What I can promise is that the production values will be kept as high as possible and promotion of the film with pursued with equal vigor once its complete.
With all that been said I must remind people that it is a backyard production that relies on volunteers who give generously of their time and talent to bring about the realization of the film. It is with my most humblest thanks to these people that Last Star will unfurl it’s sails and find it’s way to the distant shore.
